LA scenesters unite for public transportation

I went to this partylast night and unfortunately forgot the camera, but ran into Jason Saunders, artist and founder of the gallery /event space / artists co-op Basswerks, who did have a camera and hopefully he'll come on and post some pics soon.

The concept of this benefit for the Metrolink was great, but the execution was sadly disappointing. Your ticket to enter this party was to take some point of public transportation in and show your pass, but of course this wasn't enforced. We went along for the train ride, though, and were very surprised to see how clean and empty the Pershing Square station was. Union Station is beautiful, and this 1938 mammoth structure was complemented in the venue area by projections, a circular stage set-up and hundreds of scenesters in support of public transportation (or the promise of a good party). It's too bad that Shepard Fairey's dj set was so disconnected from the crowd and the space, and the bands were some generic brand of rock that I personally wasn't into because this place was set-up for some major fun.
